Resorts promise to be at their most exciting as upgrades have finished just in time for the coming ski season. Extended slopes, bigger lifts and a forecast of snow — Telegraph predicts that this might be the best ski season yet.
Be the First to Enjoy Extended Slopes
Opening this season is the new £37.5 million Flexbahn lift. It covers Stuben/Rauz and Zürs and will expand to St Anton am Arlberg, making it part of the largest interconnected ski area in Austria.
The new ski circuit allows holiday-goers to cover ground more easily and maximise their stays. With the lift comes the opening of the ‘Run of Fame,’ a new skiing run that lets enthusiasts enjoy an additional 65 kilometres of downhill thrill with an 18,000-metre altitude difference.
Relish the Freedom to Move Around
Arlberg also boasts of four new 10-person gondolas. Transportation has never been easier in this ski capital. Whether travelling with friends or with family, there are plenty of ski chalets in St Anton that can accommodate many activities.
Access Back-Country Terrain
Just as new is the Albonahan II. It is another cableway that will let skiers start in Alpe Rauz instead of Stuben. This can save skiers time they could spend on Austrian powder instead. Additionally, this gives skiers with more experience the access to back-country terrain, away from the usual marked slopes.
Bonus: Support Great Britain’s Team
The recently concluded 2016 Olympics and Paralympics saw an increase in effort to build support for Team GB in the Winter Olympics. Organisers have asked British skiers and snowboarders to consider donating to the team when they book their ski holidays. So now, holiday-goers can enjoy their vacation while also supporting the country’s athletes.
As the holidays start to creep in, many people are considering what to do and where to go. The opening of new skiing infrastructures in Austria will certainly attract those who want snow-filled fun this holiday season.
